Stephen and I went up to Derbyshire for a few days in December 2005. We stayed in a work colleague's cottage in Cressbrook which is available for rental.
It made a good base to explore Derbyshire from, and while we only managed to scratch the surface of what there is to see and do, we did get to Treak Cliff Cavern near Castleton, one of the places where Blue John stone is mined; we paid a visit to the Crich Tramway Village just south of Matlock; we spent an evening in Chesterfield, where we admired the Church of St Mary and All Saints with its crooked spire, and also took in the Christmas decorations in the city centre; and we photographed the local scenery around Cressbrook, where there are miles of dry stone walls, deep valleys, layer upon layer of peaks receding into the distance, and the beautiful Monsal Head Viaduct.
The images were mostly captured on a Pentax *ist DS digital SLR camera, but a few were taken on a film SLR and then scanned using a CanoScan FS2710 film scanner.
